The Mostert's Mill in Cape Town Reconstruction after the fire.

There’s something deeply moving about watching history being rebuilt — brick by brick, blade by blade. 🌾

On my latest walk through Cape Town, I found myself standing before the charred yet proud skeleton of Mostert’s Mill — South Africa’s oldest surviving windmill.

After the devastating fire of 2021, I honestly wondered if this piece of Cape heritage would be lost forever. But today? Hope is spinning in the wind again. 🌬️

Locals, historians, and skilled craftsmen have come together to restore this 1796 landmark. It’s not just about architecture — it’s about memory, resilience, and preserving a symbol of what once powered generations.

If you're ever in Cape Town, stop by and witness this quiet triumph of culture and community. It might just leave you wind-blown with inspiration.

📍 Location: Mostert’s Mill, Cape Town

🛠️ Restoration in progress — but history never rests.
